The program emphasizes research on contemporary development issues and how this research can inform our practice basic to this program is the understanding that to be transformational, community development interventions must be holistic, involving all aspects of community life, social spiritual economic and political.

This program is intended to raise development practitioners who through dynamic leadership will mobilize communities, create awareness and set an agenda for development that is holistic, equitable and sustainable. These leaders will spearhead in communities be Empowering people recognize their potential and utilize it in ways that bring about transformation.

This program is also intended to instill learners with skills to lead in assessing, mobilizing and effectively utilizing community resources for the wellbeing of society
Engage communities in identifying and finding appropriate solutions to social cultural, religious and political bottlenecks that hamper society progress.

Liaise and network with various stakeholders such as government, religious leaders, community leaders and civil society organization in order to bring about community transformation and also apply relevant knowledge and skills to initiate and effectively manage community development organization and initiatives.

The Graduate of this programme can work with government/government agencies as:

  • Community Development Officer

  • Community Development Planner

  • Development Policy Analyst

  • Social Development Analyst

  • Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (Community Development Projects)

  • Household Economic Strengthening Officer

  • Community Liaison Officer


The Graduate can work with NGOs, CBOs, FBOs as:

  • Programme Manager

  • Community Development Officer

  • Proprietor of a Community Development Programme/Project

  • Community Advocacy Coordinator

  • Donor Relations Coordinator

  • Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (Community Development Projects)

  • Project Director

  • Social Worker


A Graduate of this Programme can work with the private sector as:

  • Project Coordinator

  • Project Manager

  • Programme Officer

  • Community Project Officer

  • Trainer/Researcher/Consultant with institutions involved in income-generating activities, socio-economics, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and projects.


Admission Criteria to this program.

  • Candidates seeking admission through the direct entry scheme to Bachelor’s degree in this Program require at least two principle Passes in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) and at least 5 passes in Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or a second Lower division diploma in a similar field.

  • Candidates who do not meet the above criteria will be allowed to join and will be first admitted to a Higher Education Certificate which is an equivalence of A ‘level attended for 8 Months. Candidates who succeed in this course will be directly admitted to the program of their choice according to their level of performance.

  • This (Higher Education Certificate) Program Only Apply to candidates who passed through A ‘level and didn’t meet the admission criteria. It also applies to international students with study levels that do not qualify them direct entry.

Mode of Study – Full semester sessions twice a year for 3 years for Bachelor’s Degree.
