Programme Description

The Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting (BS FAC) is a comprehensive academic program designed to provide students with advanced skills in financial management, accounting, and banking. This degree prepares graduates to meet the dynamic needs of businesses, organizations, and institutions in Africa and beyond.

The program emphasizes foundational courses in the first year, such as Computer Literacy, Microeconomics, Principles of Management, Fundamentals of Accounting, Research and Writing Skills, and Christian Worldview. These courses build a strong ethical and intellectual foundation.

In the second year, students delve into core subjects like Business Finance, Company Law, Tax Management, Business Ethics, Procurement Management, Research Methods, and complete an Internship.

In the final year, students can specialize in Accounting or Finance:

  • Accounting Specialization: Focus on Public Sector Accounting, Audit Theory and Practice, Computerized Accounting, and Financial Management.
  • Finance Specialization: Cover topics like Microfinance Management, Banking Laws and Practices, Lending and Risk Management, Mutual and Pension Fund Management, and complete a Dissertation.

Graduates will gain the ability to analyze and interpret financial data, advise on investment opportunities and risk management, and apply practical knowledge in banking and financial practices.

Programme Entry Requirements

For International Students:

  • A high school diploma or certificate that qualifies for admission to a degree program in your home country.

For Ugandan Students:

  • Direct Entry Scheme:
    • Uganda Certificate of Education (O’ Level) with at least five (5) passes.
    • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (A’ Level) with a minimum of two principal passes (preferably in Mathematics, Economics, or Entrepreneurship) obtained in the same year.
    • For students from the 8-4-4 system, a C+ or its equivalent from a Higher Education Certificate is required.
  • Diploma Holders’ Entry Scheme:
    • A relevant diploma with an upper second or credit obtained from a National Council for Higher Education-recognized institution.
  • Mature Age Entry Scheme:
    • A score of 50% or higher in the Mature Age Examination, certified by a recognized center.
