Our Story

From Humble Beginnings to a Movement of Purpose-Driven Leaders

Africa Renewal University (AfRU) was born out of a deep desire to raise a new kind of leader—one equipped with knowledge, integrity, and a heart to serve. In a world grappling with broken systems and spiritual voids, AfRU set out to become a place where faith and education go hand-in-hand, and where students graduate not just with degrees, but with a purpose.

Founded in 2007 as an extension of Africa Renewal Ministries, AfRU began with a small group of 35 students, one campus, and a bold vision. Today, AfRU has grown into a chartered Christian university with over 800 students from across East and Central Africa and beyond. Our graduates are leading in schools, churches, hospitals, startups, and government offices—wherever there is need for hope-driven transformation.
