Counseling & Support

Because Sometimes,
You Just Need Someone to Talk To.

There’s a lot that goes unsaid during university years. A student might sit through lectures with a smile, but quietly wrestle with a breakup, a sick parent, a fear about the future, or a decision they regret. Sometimes even staff carry burdens no one notices until something cracks.

That’s why the Directorate of Community Life created space for counseling. Real space. With real people. Not to fix anyone—but to listen, walk with them, and help carry the weight when it feels too heavy alone.

What We Offer

The counseling team includes two professional counselors—one female, one male—and a pastor who brings both wisdom and presence. Each of them brings more than credentials. They bring kindness. They make time. They hold silence well.
This support is open to both students and staff—no labels, no judgment, no titles at the door.

What Brings People In?

It’s different for everyone. But these are some of the things that have led people to walk in and sit down:

  • Strained family relationships

  • Breakups and emotional trauma

  • Financial stress or pressure to perform

  • Anxiety about school, future, or calling

  • Loneliness—sometimes even in a crowd

The quiet, persistent thought that “maybe I’m not okay”

Why It Matters

No program or degree can make someone whole. But counseling helps students and staff remember that they’re not alone—and that whatever they’re facing, it can be faced with honesty and hope.
Over the last year, the counseling team has met with more than 140 individuals, one-on-one, without fanfare. And those conversations have saved lives, changed directions, and brought peace where it was missing.

Here’s what we’ve seen:

A space where people feel sane again

Students walking away with a clearer head and steadier heart

People who once felt lost, now praying again

Young adults choosing growth instead of self-harm

Staff who return to work a little lighter

And maybe most important of all: a growing awareness that we are created, known, and never without help.
