Cornerstone Medical Center (CMC)

Your Campus Clinic and More

Cornerstone Medical Center is our on-campus health facility serving students, staff, and the surrounding community. Operated under the Renewal Health Network, CMC is licensed by the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council as a Level III facility.

  • General outpatient & inpatient care


  • Laboratory and diagnostic services


  • Minor surgical procedures


  • Maternal and child health services


  • Dental services


  • Medical referrals to Mengo and Wentz

  • Hospitals when needed

    CMC is open 24/7 and is available to all fully registered students at no additional charge. Students are encouraged to visit early if they feel unwell.

  • Student Health Policy

    Students experiencing illness are expected to


    • Inform their roommates and hostel representative immediately


    • Visit CMC or their preferred facility (with prior reporting)s

    • Follow the referral process if specialized care is needed

    • Provide emergency contacts to the Dean of Students at registration

    • Medical referrals to Mengo and Wentz

      For chronic or serious conditions (e.g. epilepsy, TB), clearance from a doctor is required to return to campus​.

    Keeping Our Campus Healthy

    All students are part of the health ecosystem and expected to take part in these measures


    • Participate in routine campus clean-up

    • Use mosquito nets and avoid standing water

    • Properly dispose of waste in marked bins
    • Practice good hygiene: hand washing, laundry, and sanitation

    • Bring a reusable water bottle and stay hydrated

    • Report any serious symptoms like fainting, seizures, or high fever to hostel leadership or the Dean of Students immediately

    Mental & Emotional Support

    In addition to physical health, AfRU offers professional counseling services through the Directorate of Community Life. Our male and female counselors work closely with the pastoral team to provide support on issues ranging from academic pressure to personal and family challenges.
