More Than a Place to Sleep, A Community That Feels Like Home

Living on campus at Africa Renewal University (AfRU) isn’t just about proximity to classes—it’s about becoming part of a vibrant, values-driven community. Whether you’re studying late for exams or joining your roommates in evening devotions, our hostels are designed to support your academic, personal, and spiritual journey.

What to Expect in Our Hostels

Comfortable Shared Rooms

Rooms house four to six students and come equipped with a bed and mattress for each resident. Students bring their own bedding, mosquito net, and personal hygiene items to make the space feel like home.

Separate Housing for Men & Women

AfRU maintains clear boundaries for privacy and safety. Male and female students are housed in separate hostels, and cross-visits are not permitted.

Clean & Safe Spaces

Students are expected to keep their rooms neat and hygienic at all times. Weekly inspections by the Dean of Students, hostel reps, and the Student Council ensure a safe, organized, and healthy environment

Campus Living Guidelines

To ensure that the housing experience is positive and respectful for all:

  • Cooking, storing food, or using electric appliances like kettles and heaters in rooms is not allowed.

  • Lights should be switched off during the day and when not in use.

  • Rooms are allocated on a first come, first served basis every semester.

  • Students may not change rooms without official permission.
  • Visitors are only permitted with a Visitor’s Pass, and overnight stays are strictly regulated.

At the end of each semester, students must clear and clean their rooms before check-out, ensuring the space is ready for the next resident.

Living with Accountability

We believe that campus life should reflect the same Christian values we teach in our classrooms. Students are encouraged to hold each other accountable, whether it’s making sure a friend returns safely from an evening out, or reminding a roommate about cleanliness or chapel attendance.

Getting a Spot in the Hostel

Room assignments are managed by the Dean of Students’ Office. Students interested in on-campus housing should indicate this during registration. Space is limited, so early application is advised.

Meals & Dining

Meals are provided for boarding students during scheduled hours in the dining hall. The university does not accommodate special dietary requests—students with specific needs are encouraged to make private arrangements off-campus.

Cost of Accommodation

Accommodation is optional and costs 600,000 UGX per semester. This fee is separate from tuition and includes access to on-campus facilities and meals.
