Chancellor’s Message

Rev. Peter Kasirivu

Chancellor & Founder

A Legacy of Leadership with Purpose
In 1990, Rev. Peter Kasirivu founded Africa Renewal through Gaba Community Church in response to the overwhelming spiritual and practical needs he witnessed in his community. At a time when many lacked access to healthcare, education, and hope, he stepped in with a vision to bring holistic transformation.

That vision grew into a movement. Today, under Pastor Peter’s leadership, Africa Renewal has expanded into seven ministries impacting more than 30 communities, planting 650+ churches, training 2,700+ leaders, and sponsoring over 15,000 children.
Birth of Africa Renewal University
Driven by the need to equip future leaders with both professional knowledge and Christian character, Pastor Peter established Africa Renewal University—formerly known as Gaba Bible Institute. The institution was born out of a dream to raise leaders who can transform society through faith, integrity, and practical skills.

In January 2007, AfRU opened its doors with just 35 students. Today, it has grown into a thriving university serving over 800 students from across East and Central Africa, including Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, and beyond.
