Visa & Immigration Support

Your Bridge Into Uganda With Support at Every Step

Relocating to a new country for university is a big decision, and we want to make sure your first steps into Uganda are clear, smooth, and fully supported. The Visa & Immigration Support team at Africa Renewal University is here to walk with you—from pre-arrival planning to staying compliant throughout your studies.

Student Visa Requirements

Once you’re accepted to AfRU, you’ll need to apply for a Ugandan student visa (student pass). Here’s what’s typically required.

  • Official letter of admission from Africa Renewal University
  • A valid passport (covering the entire study period)

  • Proof of financial support to cover tuition and living expenses
  • A recent passport-sized photo

  • Recommendation letter issued by the Registrar’s Office

  • A valid AfRU student ID card (provided after registration)

We’ll guide you through each of these requirements and provide any supporting documents you may need.

Support Beyond the Visa

We don’t just help you get into the country—we help you stay informed and compliant while you’re here.

  • Visa renewals & extensions

  • Immigration policy updates

  • Help with travel or re-entry questions

  • Liaison with the Directorate of Immigration when needed

Whether you’re navigating your first application or preparing to renew your visa, our team is available to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Staying Informed, Staying Legal

Uganda requires all international students to maintain valid immigration status while enrolled. That includes:

  • Keeping your student pass current

  • Reporting any changes in your academic status

  • Leaving the country only with appropriate permissions during the semester

Our office is happy to assist with any of these matters.
